Open up and take meat out. Main thing is to take out and throw away the gills which are feathery things known as dead men's fingers (poisonous). They'll be umpteen recipes around but basically remove brown and white meat and add a bit of lemon and mayonnaise. Need to break open the claws with a hammer and rake out meat. Fresh thin sliced brown bread. Yum. dl

It is a painstaking job to pick a crab, it is important as said above to remove the "dead man's fingers" but they are soft and easy to get out. When you split the shell by pulling it apart from the front you will see the "fingers" underneath the rest of the crab's body which is surrounded by a thin shell. There is a lot of good white meat in that thin shell body. The brown meat is also good to eat.
Enjoy-I love crab too.
