Cool Xbox 360 deals

Right I'm going to treat my self to a Xbox 360, so the question is, what deals are there about? now i don't have a 1080p TV so theres not much point going for an Elite???? Though my TV does have HDMI connection. I can't see the extra 100gb hard drive over the 20gb worth the expense either. i think that's all the bases covered? oh and my sister is getting me Forza 2 for Christmas, so anything that excludes that game. Call of Duty 4 looks good as does Project Gotham 4

Is that the Core or Full system pack?

I quite fancy one, but still not sure if i'd be better off with a PS3 instead. Seem similar in price now.

even though you don't NEED the elite, i would still recommend it, as xboxlive is going to start offering 'proper' downloaded games, with tomb raider legend being the first iirc, so the big drive is necessary, also it doesn't have the hardware failure probs that the original did (although i think that the newer 360s are cured too). apart from that and the hdmi output, it is the same, it has the same jet-engine sounding cooling fans (argggghh-so annoying)...also some good deals on the xbox360 hd-dvd drive, you get a limited selction of 5 free hd-dvds

just because you dont have 1080p you can still take advantage of anyo of the other resoloutions your tv may offer

dont you belive it with the 20gb drive being enough, ive got an elite, and im down to 80 gigs free

+ its quiet too

depends, composite (rW&y) is pants either way you get major ringing from reds as they bleed over, the dedicated RGB to scart is better, no bleed over from reds, i run this through my small and big tv no probs,

i also run it through my multiscan monitor using phono to bnc adaptors super resoloutions :0

ideally it is the elite that i should get as i have the HDMI cable already routed into the wall (TVs wall mounted) and it would keep every thing neat and tidy, but I'm trying to keep the cost down decisions decisions
And it would match the rest of the furniture (sad i know)

My new 360 elite failed yesterday, the DVD drive has given up the ghost! Reliability issues have not been resolved

I was also thinking of treating myelf to one of these.... was looking at one in a store today, think it was Halo 3 running on it but to be honest I wasn't too impressed with the graphics.

How do the graphics compare to say a PC or PS3 (im use to playing games on a PC only other console I have had was a PS2 and that was a bit crap). I know they are probably like chalk and cheese but I was under the impression they were pretty good on the graphics front?

Is it worth paying the extra for the Elite?

Oh and has anyone got a modchip for the 360?

Essentialy yes, the elite has a 120gb HD, is black and has HDMI output, although I think the new premium models have the HDMI too

if the premiums have a HDMI that could be tempting
as for chipping them, its flashing the hard drive with new firmware from what i've read, i'm not sure theres a mediacentre like the old xbox though

If you have windows media centre edition, or vista, you can run either media extender, or media streaming from your pc to the box
