Default Soddin dog walkers... USE A LEAD!

Going back to an old thread about do's and dont's when walking a dog, especially the use of a lead.

Driving through Keston yesterday, not giving it any, just nice a steady, taking the car out to stretch its legs for the weekend.

Anyway im driving along beside the woods, and spot a walker on a narrow pavement, with her alsation along side.
As I get nearer I see there is no lead on the dog, so ready for anything now.

Sure enough, the walker takes a step towards the road to avoid something on the pavement, and voila, the dog immediatly turns right and walks straight out in front of the car.

At this point, do I take the Clarkson line, and refuse to take sudden action and just flatten the dog, or do I do my bit.
I love dogs, so thankfully I stopped, and offered the walker some choice words about herself and her responsibilities.

For god sakes, if your dog is happy to walk by your side, put a lead on the frickin thing!

That is usually very stupid.
However, I run with my dog quite often and she's so well trained that if it's a short bit of road, she'll stay at a very close heel with no lead.
If the road is remotely long, she's back on it again.

And she's stupidly fit too. Makes me feel like a wheezy old git in comparison.
She's happy to run while I cycle too but I only do that off road.

lol cheers.

Really irriates me. I walk mine 3 times a day. On a lead at all times, if he wants a run I will use the 30ft lead and run with him somewhere safe.

Also, following on from my comment of For god sakes, if your dog is happy to walk by your side, put a lead on the frickin thing! ....

If its not happy on a lead, get a Halti and train the damn thing!

I run with my dog, on a harness and lead.
I fully respect the whole well trained thing, been there, and had a very well trained dog, but even he had his moments. Away from roads and people, not a big deal. Round people, roads, cars etc, 100% no no for me.

It only takes a second.
If the dog had run to the right of my car yesterday without me stopping and I swerved instead, I would have hit the owner, and probably put them into a tree.... So I get injured and the owner gets killed or paralysed for the sake of putting the dog on a lead.

I took the Clarkson route last time one ran out on me (not that I had time to do anything else).
Almost killed the thing and gave my car £500 of damage the owner didn't want to pay for. His excuse was the vets bills were more than that...
I was too soft to take it any further.

By "road" I mean extremely quiet country lane where a car will struggle to exceed 30.

If a pet causes an accident then the pet owner is responsible, they should have pet insurance anyway if they have half a brain.
