Based on transmission line speaker technology (fookin good) - I quite like em. Very big sound from something so relatively small.
My parents are looking at it too - but the IPod one (can't wait for the "tech support" calls about this!! )
Good bit of kit - IMHO

Yes, I've sampled one. It's ok for what it is: i.e as a replacement for a portable radio or mini-HiFi, But it is very expensive as well, so it should sound better.
It does give a big sound for its size. But it does lack very low bass - possibly drowned out by the mid-bass (expected - Bose's fabled boom for bass theology) , and it seems to lack in the upper frequencies (do they have tweeters? )
However, it won't sound better than a good pair of £100 Kef bookshelfers plus £100 amp and a £50 CD player.
It's no Hi-Fi, but most stuff in retail shops isn't either. If you want something small that sounds good, then the Bose will be fine for you. But it won't replace a big Hi-Fi

I'd agree with Shark Man, Ive got an iPod one and whilst it is impressive it doesnt handle lower frequencies as well as higher ones but a neat unit all the same.

You can get much better sound from conventional micro/mini/midi systems from the likes of Denon. Bose are a styling exercise dressed up as a sales gimmick. A lot of money for their capabilities, but pretty, if that's more important to you.

Mum and Dad have the older version.
Huge noise from such a small unit.
Dad also has the Acoustimass system (small cubes for mid and high range, bass bin for low range) and I have 301s. All good.
Bit of a Bose family really.
