Angry Whats Gone Wrong ...

... with the country??

Tonight I turn up at my local swimming pool for a swim and a sauna/steam/jacuzzi ...... as I do a few evenings a week. I am a member and pay monthly in advance. It's a stroll over the field and I'm there.

Anyway, unknown to me, Labour has decided that the Health Suite part of the complex (for which I pay extra to use, over and above the swimming pool) has no health benefits and therefore is subject to VAT!!!!

The management have decided to levy a £10 one-off payment on all members who have Health Suite access - also, unknown to me until tonight.

Now, I don't carry money to the pool as I don't need it - I have a members card to access all areas of the complex. Tonight some jobs-worth decides that she will not let me in until I pay the extra £10 ..... it was like the Mafia!!

I said I didn't have the £10, wasn't aware of a change in the Terms and Conditions and would bring the money later in the week, in the meantime - please let me use the facilities for which I have paid.

NO! she said and denied me access!!!!

Well, of course, me being me I am as mad as a march hare who has just had his tailed pulled off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have paid to use the place and this 'jobs-worth' doesn't let me in - un believable ...................... I'm sure what she did was in breach of my contract?

Here we go, another customer crusade I'm off on What do you reckon?

I'm FUMING!!!!!!!

Just fire off a polite "I am mega-pissed off" letter to the swimming pool.

She was the Duty Manager who the very nice desk jockey had asked to come to the desk when I asked for my usual Swim + Health Suite ..... not saying anything, just called this woman to the desk - I had no idea what was going on.

When I was refused access, I asked to speak to the Manager - she said that she was in charge tonight .... I am more than welcome to write to the Swimming Pool mangement but they will just pass it to us to deal with .... with a sarcy smile!!

SERCO run the pool on behalf of the Borough Council ... I have e-mailed their Leisure Director. Trying to find a person to complain to is a nightmare!

As above .... she just sneered at the very thought of me complaining to the pool, as she would be handed the complaint to deal with and it will go nowhere!!

Use your brain Lewis.

You have been conned for a while into paying extra for a "Health" suite which is now shown to offer no health benefits.

You should be asking for your money back

Tut tut, Labour eh, milking everyone of their hard earned money!

Speaking of gym membership, I really must start using mine.

LOL! So Labour are in power for 10 years and make little or no improvement to education, NHS, law and order etc. etc. and yet PSL tells us over and over that they are the best thing since sliced bread.

As soon as he is refused entry to his gym for one night they can no longer rely on his vote.... that is some sense of perspective there ... love it

It's not you who has to pay the VAT, it's them. If they haven't charged enough then it's their problem.

Thumbs down What's gone wrong with Britain?

Labour have, Pete.

They are robbing everyone blind in a desperate attempt to prop up a shaky economy.

And before you start, no, I don't think the Tories would be any better And the Lib-Dems? Waste of space.

When the leisure sites are outsourced someone in the council still overseas to ensure they are doing a good job - a complaint to that person is the way forward. Talking to a leisure centre duty manager is the same as talking to someone that was cleaning toilets 2 years before while doing a spot of lifeguarding.....because thats what they would have been doing!

send a letter and e-mail to every address you find to do with the council and serco.. that way it will get thru to someone. if after a week you have no joy, send another, and so on and so on... you get someones attention in the end!

I am afraid Pete that you will just have to treat it as an indication of the future Nanny/Police state which was stealthily started by your hero and his lying, self seeking bunch of backside kissing cohorts.

Well, I have contacted the local paper, e-mailed the Director of SERCO Leisure, someone at the Council ..... see what comes of it.

I've e-mailed the duty manager who denied me access last night.

I am infuriated that I have paid for this month, swim and health club, in all good faith and am bluntly denied access unless I pay £10

Sue them Mr Britas, sue them!

Seriously, you pay in advance but were denied access. They failed to notify you. If they denied you access to the entire centre rather than just refused to let you use the HS, surely, that's not equitable and they're denying you access to a facility which you've paid for?

If you wanted to be a real PITA, you could whip up a bit of a frenzy with the rest of the HS customers and the lot of you sue the b'stards.
