Default Dive computer

As I'm off to egypt for chrimbo I thought I would get my dive regs serviced and new batteries put in my Aladin air X computer. I was expecting about £70 for the new batteries in the computer and sender unit. Today I recieved a call from the dive shop saying that my computer is too old and they no longer do battery replacements only an upgrade! So its costing me £230 for the latest all singing all dancing dive computer to replace mine and considering I was expecting a few quid for a battery change this is seeming quite cheap

My Aladin Ultra is down to about 70% battery.

Actually it was my ascent speed after a half hour deco at 6m lol, little bit too keen to get to the surface as I was busting for a piddle and didn't fancy christening the dry suit.

Where abouts in Sharm?

DiveQuip in Nottingham do battery servicing for Aladins.
They are the only company other than Uwatec who do it AFAIK.
A lot cheaper too.

Although you do usually get a replacement face plate / shield free if it's somewhat scratched..
Must learn to ferret around more gently.

I bent the **** out of an Aladdin Pro Ultra once. I did a 40mins at 38m (ish) dive on EAN32, and did deco on a GUE/DIR table and stopwatch, using 50% and 100%. I surfaced with the Pro Ultra still wanting me to do about 70mins of deco and going totally mental, beeping at me and flashing SOS etc.

After two 30m dives of 40minutes each and a tank refil as a break, my computer was still fine. I assume mine must be different as it's linked to my tank and it knows what air I have breathed and it's not guessing

Never had a problem, and neither have the trimix guys I know. Infact none of my club who dive on Suunto's have been bent.

Infact all my outdoor gear (techy wise) is all Suunto or Garmin. Its become a brand I know I can trust.
