Best DECT phone on market with ansafone?
#1
Hi,
Anyone know the best DECT phone on the market with answerfone facility? I'm after 2 x handsets (with 2 chargers).
Are the BT ones the best?
I know this sounds silly, but bought a Philips one for my
father a few years back, but the ring tone was crap and too high-pitched (he is slightly deaf), and had to take it back for a BT one which had a more conventional "beefy" ring.
I'm not so bothered about the ring tone however, so am looking
for bells & whistles :-)

I've got a Philips ONIS, which has the excellent feature that the handset can also act as a speakerphone, both for calls and for listening to messages. You can stand the handset up of the coffee table, and it works a treat.
(It also has a Baby-monitor function which has proved useful when we've had young visitors!)
Downside was that there are some glaring cases of terrible design in the handset software, e.g. being able to add and delete numbers from the phonebook, but not edit them (!).
I would hope that the design flaws have been coded out in the new version of the phone.

I have a BT one -- the handsets are made by Sagem. One downside is that the 'pickup' and 'putdown' buttons (green 'n' red) are the other way round to a Nokia mobile. Pity you can't get a Nokia DECT phone.

dharbige (and imlach),
i have the "follow-on" phone from the ONIS, the Zenia Voice.
It has a separate base station, so the "main" phone simply sits on a charger - just like any additional ones.
It does Caller ID (displaying the name if in the address book), has a shared phone book as well as private ones per handset and does the speakerphone stuff n'all. The base station can also act as a speakerphone as well as access the answering machine, and you can check messages from the handsets as well.
On the downside, the handsets are smaller than the ONIS, so a little more tiring to hold, and the software can seem a tad slow when initially making a call.

I have the ONIS too. I spent quite a while deciding what to get because I had certain features I definitely needed - speakerphone in the handset and a good mute function. Very pleased with it so far.

I have the Phillips Kala. Managed to get twin-pack with Answer Phone for £85.00 + VAT from Makro.
Also have the BT/Siemens Diverse 2010. Also good but cooks the batteries.
