I have the Xbox 360 HD drive at the mo although i am going to upgrade in the next few weeks to the Toshiba HD-EP35. To be honest i dont think there is a right or wrong answer in terms of which format to choose but the following factors made me go HD-DVD
1. Better titles
2. Cheaper HD-DVD Players
3. in my opinion (and i do work in the industry of selling these products) HD-DVD "generally" look better from what i've seen.
I'm into sci-fi ie startrek etc etc so HD-DVD was a no brainer for me as it is backed by Paramount, plus at christmas we'll be expecting HD-DVD players for less than £200 quid which blu-ray can't compete with.
PLUS Blu-ray is a Sony format need i say more
I just watched Transformer on HD-DVD last night and it was without a doubt the best picture quality i have ever seen my Pioneer pdp436rxe ever show and the best my home cinema has ever performed and thats only with the xbox drive so i have high hopes for the toshiba i will be buying next!

Combo HDDVD/BluRay players are due out very soon. LG were supposed to have theirs out already but I think Sony put a stranglehold on them. Samsung will have theirs out very soon. Ask over on AVForums, but I think the best way to go is to buy a US machine as these are region A,B & C out of the box, able to play US, Japanese and European discs, opening up the available catalogue of titles massively, and probably opening you up to better pricing too. I'm still waiting for the dust to settle, but I have heard rumours that Apple are preparing an HD movie download service within iTunes which may render physical disc formats redundant very quickly.

Blu Ray rhymes with gay so **** that.
As above - HD DVD is better value and has higher output of films
Blu ray = Betamax (Specialist)
HD DVD = VHS (Good quality and keen pricing)
My Xbox360 HD DVD add on is great - suits a 1080i HD Plasma just fine
Not gonna change my AV kit till the new range of 3D tv's come down from
£20K (assuming they hit the market in the next 2/3 years)
