I was about to post something like "What the hell is it about skateboards"?

Bunch of long-haired losers near me, trousers hanging down near their knees, constantly jumping off the board trying to flip it, loud BANG that echoes down the street, landing half-**** and near spraining their ankles, practised look of bored insouciance, kick it back upright, repeat from step 1.

The skate park thing I can understand as a skill, but this is like taking an electronic keyboard out to a public place, turning the volume up to max and constantly picking out the tune to "bah bah black sheep" with one finger.

Grrr....

I can imagine Pissy rolling down to Morrisons to do his shift all bandaged up against a fall

Used to when I was a young un.
Bit of ramp, bit of street.
Gave up aged about 16 when I hit a car and decorated the road in my blood/flesh.

I'm now utterly cack.

Be warned - SN is ONLY for the slighly middle aged who are too sensible to do anything fun.

Used to have a Santa Cruz Natas with gulwing trucks and bullet wheels. Used to love it but lost a lot of skin due to it!

When I was a little kid I used to kneel on my home made long wheelbase skateboard and bomb down the hilly road I lived on. It was a fine art as to how tight you set the trucks - too tight and it would go wide on the corners, too loose and you'd get a high speed death wobble. I don't think protective gear was invented back then... either that or my parents wanted to do away with me.

STI - my last deck was a Santa Cruz Corey O'Brien, Venture trucks, Cockroach wheels, MNB bearing. And about 10 pairs of skate shoes, all with a perfect right and a knackered left from ollying all the time!

So, wait, you're saying that you'd prefer it if they practised indoors until they were good at it?
