Question Anyone with IceSave?

Now that deposits are guaranteed up to £35,000 in full - I am more willing to go to 'non High Street' Banks. Spread my risks about a bit.

They have an attractive rate of 6.3% ... anyone save with them and are you happy?

Sainsburys give 6.25% and iirc are Bank of Scotland operated. I opted for a smidge less interest instead of the Icelandic and Indian banks.

Sainsburys don't pay Monthly Interest - or I would be with them!

But is it 100% of the £35k?
Also, are there not some get out clauses, in that the payout is only made if sufficient funds are in the contingency fund?

I don't have that much faith in any guarantee. Better off using someone you trust to start with imo.

Ten minutes on Excel and a quick google and I'm confused. Aren't the Icesave's stated 6.3% AER and Sainsburys 6.25% AER given to allow a direct like-for-like comparison? Otherwise Icesave (because of compounding) is worth 6.44%...

I've had an account with Icesave for about 8 months and I've been very happy with them. No issues opening the account, good user interface when you check your account online, great rate of interest - and no 'introductory bonus' cr@p or anything.

They also pass on increases in the base rate very quickly.

I would recommend to anyone.

Have heard a few nasties about ICICI so wouldnt touch them.
