wedding photo's
as a matter of interest
how long after the act did / do people wait to get their proofs and final album?
we're currently heading towards 5 months before the final album which we think is a bit excessive

Hi,my daughter was married 2 years ago & all the photography was done on a digital camera by a proffesional.
Hence, you get hundreds of shots & they are all put on a DVD,which is sent to you & copies to family etc.(this DVD will have copy protection on it so you don't get all the pictures for free ) You pick out the ones you like & pay for the ones you want online at their web site. They can then be printed or sent to you on a DVD.
I had mine sent on a DVD so I can load them on my PC & also take them down to somewhere like Tesco/Boots & get them printed of yourself in one of those big photo machines as it is much cheaper & the quality is great. You can also edit & print your own copies with a good printer & decent photo paper.
The DVD arrived in about 2 weeks.
What's the problem you are having?

I don't get it! In this age of computers & digital comms you would think
they could show the proofs on a laptop at the wedding. Then, the next day or sooner, the photographer could upload them to their sites web-server so you can make your selection on-line.
Almost instantanious......or am I wrong?
Hope you get it sorted soon.

got married on 30th sept 2006
got a proof disc two weeks before xmas!
we picked 400 pix off the 900 on the disc, these were for the 7x5 prints.
from the 400 we then narrowed it down to the 200 wanted for the the main photo album.
got these back to the photographer early January 2007.
we then got the official book at the end of may 2007.
this is how our book looks though
Graphistudio - Home
well worth the wait. My wife's work colleague also had the same style of photos done and she got married around the same time as us, she waited about the same length as well.
David Edwards was our photographer
UK Imaging John Batten Photographer Dave Edwards Photographer
can highly recommend him

we didn't have official photos - we had friends armed with digital cameras - not only did this save us a fortune, but it meant we had candid pictures, which was the style we wanted.
we picked the pictures we wanted printed and put the album together ourselves (found a photo album bound in the same fabric as my dress)

Evenb if they are using digital, if they are a high standard professional outfit who do alot of weddings, then it's gonna take time to get you those results.
Getting a picture right isn't necessarily that much quicker with digital than it was with film.
My wedding pics didn't cost much and they came withing days, but that is reflected in the quality. I don't mind because they were just to remind us of the day, they didn't need to be fantastic.
My brothers pictures were done properly and you can tell, and they took alot longer.
It's horses for courses, as with most things.
Even so, 5 months does sound excessive, so speak to them about your concerns and ask why it will take so long.
Could be worse, my cousin got married 4 years ago, still haven't had them!
Geezer

that is rather excessive! Should be in their T&Cs. I turn everything in 4 weeks.
LOL at the comment about getting prints done at Boots - they're notoriously bad. certainly don't do justice to good wedding shots, and probably won't last well.
I do a DVD option, but begrudgingly. Your work is what gets you business. A good album, with top quality prints gives a good impression, and gets you work. A load of flimsy prints from Boots etc doesn't

We still haven't put an album together, eight years after getting married!
Six months travelling (Oz/NZ) for honeymoon and then we sort of forgot.
Saves boring guests to tears with it I guess!
