Picked up a cheap freeview box yesterday
£16 in asda IIRC
one of the lads who worked here had a cheap freeview box and always had problems with it, somebody else i know had some sketchy problems with another version, so i was not expecting much, but if i got 2/3 extra channelsi would be happy.
completely surprised it works perfectly!!??!! the reception at work is crap as the building is covered in metal cladding and we have always had problems with analogue in the past (you can open a key cupboard on the wall and the picture goes fuzzy )
£16 later i now have all the freeview channels in the office and all are running at max signal strength (with crappy portable ariel shoved up behind the cladding outside)
awesome buy
what i found it will do is if the broadcast is widescreen, it will zoom out and show all the picture on the screen (black bars top and bottom) this is a 14" 4:3 portable btw
so its also gave me the option of turning my 14" portable in the office into a 14" widescreen

I bought one too not long ago just hoping to clear up the default 5 channels as I have a poor signal upstairs in the bedroom, plugged it in and I have shed loads of channels running full strength on a crappy ariel too I can finally go to bed and watch films on ITV2 etc

honestly i didn't think i would like freeview much, but it is quite amazing, when it costs you £16 for an extra 25 channels, im amazed, i only had £20 on me at the time and i was going to buy a dvd instead
it was the same story at home with crappy reception (block of apartments, no idea where the ariel was and wondered why everybody else was happy with the picture)
but i assumed the apartment picture was sorted out by the big samsung plasma
analogue = gay

i was reading the box in the store and it said something like "one off payment then channels for life" and i was thinking "ohh right thats why its £16, i will still have to pay extra when setting up"
