Obtaining a CRB Check?

Obtaining a CRB Check?
Can anyone assist in obtaining a CRB check???
Friends of mine are planning on moving to Europe and setting up a Llimited Company.
The info they have is that each Director will need to provide a passport and Criminal Records check.
The CRB in this country won't allow you to check your own records, so does any fellow Scoobynetters know how it can be done?
A PM would be great!
BTW the persons concerned are squeaky clean, just need to be able to prove it!
Thanks,
Bob

We do them, I think we 'may' be an agent so that we can do other peoples, but the only people who know are the directors and they are out of the office today
When are they looking at going ? they arent that quick CRB checks about 6 weeks I think or possibly quicker

Well I'm driving across with them next week to look at their business venture with them. But they are hoping to set up the Ltd Company some time later, ideally before the end of October but its dependant on this CRB check.
If you could find out for me / them it would be great.
They are two ladies, so I'm helping them as much as possible.
Thanks,
Bob

Because the CRB WON'T allow you to do a check on yourself.
It has to be done through a company registered with them, or an umbrella company.
Hence me posting on here.

Thanks Clare,
(A) was really close - I am actually already "in" with one of the ladies
(B) She is far cleverer than I
Already been on the phone to CRB is all I got from phoning.
I have a second number I'm about to try, see if I get a person not an Android this time!
Sorry David, didn't men to offend!

Oops yeah, thought 0151 was Manchester, but thats 0161 Doh!
Just phoned the CRB again, but I got a nice and helful chappy this time.
He said its possible to obtain a "Subject Access Request" from the local Police Authority.
This is done under the Data Protection act, therefore you are entitled to the information they hold on you!
Think this may be the route to take!

I don't understand this. I had to provide such a ref for my job seven years ago. Walked into local police station, got a form, posted it off with a tenner for data processing costs, and got a statement back saying Section X of the CRB had no entries for me. AIUI, no-one else is allowed to check your crim record, ONLY you yourself, then you give the statement to your employer.
Edit - aha, looks like I was right
