Default Mortgage purchase solicitor fees, need help ASAP!

I am looking at buying a repossed property today but I need to have the solicitor organised and have no idea of fees, I have been quoted:

Solicitor £650+ Vat

Registry fee £150

Something else (didnt write it down quick enough) £155

Waste search £46

Enviromental search £37.60

Registry search £4.00

bank search £20.00

Bank transfers £35.50

Does the above look normal? I have no idea

About £1200 then.

I just bought a property 4 mths ago now and my fees were just a touch over £1000.

Suppose it depends what part of the country your in.

All your search fees will be fixed, solicitors fee based on time. At which point the old adage of "getting what you pay for" often applies.

Cheap solicitor fees often mean that a less experienced employee is doing the work. Of course, small firms are generally cheaper than large ones.

Is this including all of the other the search fees?

Or is it just the solicitor fee which is VAT applicable?

If all the other fees are standard amounts that every one pays then it doesnt sound too bad, this was the first company out of three that answered the phone. The deal has to be sealed with in 28 days so I dont want anyone that messes about!

Thanks

I used this firm Rickerbys for a complicated mortgage deal. Excellent service and competitive.

Worth one phone call to ask. dl
