Gutmann pug

One of the most used sections on the site used to be the other marque area. It was always full of info, chat and plenty of banter too. Since it moved way down to the bottom it is neglected and ignored.

I struggle to see the point of having a scooby lounge with around 60 posts ever at the top and a once busy section going to seed at the bottom. It makes no sense to me.

Should the other marque section be brought back to life?

I would be surprised if Other Marques was one of the busiest sections of the site

I go in Photography section and I dont think that is less busy than it used to be and that is down at the bottom

Good call, Gary. Other Marques seemed to attract more people onto the site, now, good quality new members may stumble into New Muppets and that's simply an embarrassment.

Yeah, have to agree. Other Marques was a good forum, kept me here long after I sold my Impreza (many years ago, when they were cool, remember that? )

Generally pretty poor now, so apart from the odd glance I tend not to bother with OM, and therefore Scoobynet in general any more.

Does OM add anything that NSR does not? Surely NSR covers what OM does leaving OM just a duplication?

Perhaps if we had NSR changed to Non Car related, then OM would have more of a purpose. It does seem that the lower down the table you go, the less activity in that forum, there are a fair few forums near the top that have very little use. I think it would be better for those to fall down the menu.

NSR is really non-car related I think. Just has the wrong name. If you discuss cars here, it gets moved to General or Other Marques.

Thanks for this, I think its a good idea, and thank you for wording it fairly - all too often these kinds of things are worded in an unbalanced, and unfair way.

As always, if the community decides it should be moved back to the top, it will be

More seriously though, SN has become a lot more than just a place about scoobies. If that position is to be promoted the other areas of the site need to be given a lot of prominence. I think there is a good arguement to be made that less is more in the case of sub forums.

I think we have two many different forums, some of the ones at the top being relatively inactive which is a shame imo.

The more sub forums you have to click through, the less likely you are to visit them. I am certain there are several threads a day that I miss, that I would otherwise comment on. I simply don't have the inclination to click on each and every sub forum every day to see what is going on in there. As always, a balancing act is needed. Finding that balance is always hard, and will never please everyone.

Edit: Specifically my suggestion would be to have at the top:-

News
General
Was it you (maybe this could go down?)
Gallery
OM
NSR (maybe renamed to NCR - non car related)

Muppets, lounge etc I think should head down to the bottom.

I am in agreement that it may not of been the best idea to move it way down there. Lots of people here have moved on from owning a Subaru and do we really want to lose them from the community? Statistically it may not be the most popular section but it is one of the most interesting. I don't own a Subaru and never have but the other marques section was (not so much now) my first port of call when it came to advice or general browsing.

I am sure it would become one of the most popular sections if it was further up.

So yeah bring it baaack
