Suggestion : "Unmoderated" Channel

Suggestion : "Unmoderated" Channel
Right.
A suggestion, which would help EVERYONE.
On scoobynet, we have a duty to keep things relatively clean. The reason is that we're public.
I understand, and appreciate that some people find this restriction frustrating.
The restriction is there, nevertheless.
-
What if we offer a theoretically unmoderated section of scoobynet. None of the threads would be visible to the public, unless registered and signed up to accept it.
We would make a small charge of, say £5 per year for access which would reduce worthless trolling, multiple accounts, etc, etc.. but would mean genuine people who just want to have a more close to the knuckle level of banter, can fill their boots.
-
Now.. there will still be some level of moderation, but this will be only things that are genuinely illegal, and would operate under a "yous signed up for it, so suck it up" regime in terms of personal issues.
It would also be a pretty good environment for more features which would allow you to throw abuse at members, etc.
-
This would mean that those who are happy to post within the confines of the public nature of scoobynet can carry on, and those who would rather go a bit further, can do the same.. without interfering with each other.

And like Fight Club already is now ?
Not many people use fight club, but a few do
No holds barred etc
Not sure if its just a good idea only to moderate the illegal stuff? might still need more moderating than that

No Sonic I don't.
Fight Club is for fighting. That's a totally different thing.
I think this is one of the big problems caused here. There are problems from both sides, so nobody's innocent, but it is wrong to say that people who want to be able to have a bit more freedom for banter, want to be nasty to each other / fight.
That's not what I'm talking about here.
Some people speak too aggressively for general consumption. Some people are too sensitive for general consumption.
This conflict is the problem.
The Unmoderated section, is an answer to that.

I dont think its worth having another "fight club" or "lounge" as no one uses them?
How about a seperate section that only shows up once you agree to the terms (like what comes up for fight club) if you make it only plus members or £5 per year I doubt anyone will use it........

Stop trying to cater for the pathetic schoolboys who post childish filth. Just sling them off the board and keep some reputation going for SN.
Seems also that it would be an easy opt out for mods - anything slightly controversial - which I say gives a buzz to the board - would be moved over.

I think its a great idea, although its down to the way the forum is pitched to if it's successful or not....
Fight Club tends to attract people who just insult eachother... the new forum (whatever its called) needs to be pitched as a no holds barred (well almost) forum to discuss anything... rather than pigeon holing it as anything too specific...
It'll be interesting to see who will be able to moderate such a forum, they'll need a big pair of ***** and amazing sense of humour to be able to tell when its going Pete Tong!!...

If you have a membership plan would access to this new section be included or an additional purchase?
I can see some merit to a "No Holds Barred" section. Some threads in NSR fall foul of the "keep it clean" rules, and thus could be moved to the new forum where things could continue.

It would have to be an infraction free zone or we'd probably all be banned within a week
Seriously though it's a good idea, I'd sign up providing there is a non paypal way to pay which works, I've tried to become a + member for ages and I can't seem to be able to pay by switch or cc.

LOL @ Tam
Infract free... there might be something else.. like a shotguns, which you can shoot at people, leaving bullet holes in their profile.. but this would be simply expression.

it sounds like a good idea.
i have a similar area on the forum i run - only members with over 500 posts are allowed to use it.
another forum i use has an adult section, you have to prove your age (over 18). it is a very open and frank forum which is very popular.

I like the sound of that, but I have to agree as with fight club and the lounge, as they are subscription only, they are bound to be very quiet.
Another idea might be to hand pick members of the board who you know would cause fireworks and give them posting access to the extreme forum.
Everyone else gets read only rights, so they can see the fireworks, but not contribute.
The amount of traffic on fight club and the lounge proves that subscription only forums are a waste of time, why not be generous and hand pick members for guaranteed kick offs and do it for free?
astraboy.
