Default Buying a Ladder?

Hello

Does anyone have any advice about buying a ladder? I had a look in the local DIY store and they all look more or less the same to me!

I need one about 6 meters to get to the roof, relatively sturdy for someone who doesn't climb ladders and preferably somewhere online as I will have to pay the local shop to deliver anyway.

Thanks for any help.

why not pop into the local DIY 'shed'? most of them have staff that can answer any questions etc now.. even if you dont buy from there, utilise their 'knowledge'

Consider the lengths of the sections when you want to store it.

The other thing is, the shape of the rungs - if you want to stand on them for any period, I suspect square section are more comfortable than round.

Mine came from Screwfix, out of their "Bigstuff" catalogue. It's got three sections and opens to around 32 feet.

Good price, delivered free.

Might be an idea to also get one of those things that clip over the top of the ladder and keep the ladder away from the wall (not sure what they are called - stay?). Useful around windows and barge boards. Also decent chain and padlock to go around ladder if you are keeping it outside. Sounds like a 3-section aluminium jobbie. Hold on to bottom (of ladder) when you send Mrs Boxst up

I advise a good strong aluminium one with plastic non slip feet.

I had a wooden one which slipped from under me on a wet day which is why I need an arm crutch for the rest of my life!
