New cameras on North Circular..speed?
Over the last month loads of new cameras have sprung up on the North Circular. I'll try and describe them. There is one long vertical pole by the side of the road, then a horizontal pole goes across, above the road. Attached to this are about four cameras to cover each lane.
The cameras themselves are cylindrical can shaped and light coloured (grey? white?)
I updated my Road Angel today and drove past them but it didn't give a warning.
What the hell are these things????

Also going up on the A316 and A4.
I have only seen them as singles and without a second unit up the road to pair with for SPECS duty so am assuming that they are ANPR to check up on who is entering London.
It would be nice if another S/netter with inside knowledge were to come along and confirm that they are only ANPR though

I have it on good authority that these are not speed camers, nor are they APNR camers...they are face recognition cameras and they cover all lanes (hence the number required). I guess this is someone's idea of terrorist prevention by clocking everyone who enters and leaves the capital on the major routes.
The A40 has them as well just around hanger lane.
If they are that powerful, then you can bet your bottom dollar that they can be used for "other" data collection

As Swiss says its not those.
This govt takes the ****, it takes us into an illegal war then uses the increased terrorist threat that brings as an excuse to take my picture 10 times over the space of 45 minutes. Is it to reduce crime? Of course bloody not! We all know where the bloody criminals are, the reason is so they can tax us for one reason or another
