Default Gold fish problems

Got my girlfriend goldfish the other day (she wanted kids, it was the next best thing). I've never had them before so i dont know much about them but is it normal for bubbles/foam to collect at the top of the bowl?

AND yes there is an AND has anyone had a goldfish which is a bully? i call him killer as he seems to taunt and beat up the other goldfish as well as try to do leaping salmon impressions to get out of the bowl is this normal?

I have spend more time in the past 5 days watching these wee fish than i have tv as they are far more interesting!

The bubbles/foam will just be a resultant of the water adapting itself to the various chemicals, etc and forming an ecosystem. It will dissappear, I presume its a new filter/tank??

As to the bully, yes!! In have a few in my tank to be honest. I guess they all have silghtly different mentalities (although their brain is about as big as a grain of rice!) and bully one another. Although, if everything in the tank is bullying one particular fish, its a safe bet he is on his way out. Because apparantly, fish can tell when other fish are ill or are going to die, and systematically batter it so it goes quicker and they can eat it. Pretty sick really; but I guess thats nature!!

Hope this helps...

I nearly lost all my tropical fish because of an oxygen issue !!

Why do tropical fish breath more ?

Swap fish with her - tell her the one you currently own would suit her personality better. Don't tell her why though

And of course you can't flush kids down the loo when it all goes pear shaped (I've tried )

===========

As for tropicals they will be in warm water so there will be less O2 available for them.
