Parking Ticket

Parking Ticket
Probably been loads of these already somewhere on the forum, but I received a parking ticket the other day, and the attendant marked on the ticket that the make of car was a Ford (!) and not Subaru. The number plate is correct, but can I get off on an appeal because the make is incorrect?
Any help appreciated

at the above.
Yes, technically the ticket is invalid. If you think you deserved a ticket, just pay it. If not, appeal. Be aware that if its the council that issued the ticket, the first course of appeal will be heard by them....so of course they will turn you down. You will then have to appeal to a higher level. If you want to fight it, you can. They bank on people not bothering.

Yes the ticket is technically invalid and like Luminous said, if you think you should have been given it then pay, but if it was unfairly presented then appeal on the grounds of the error

My response shows just how far the law (with respect to parking here but also in a lot of areas) has fallen into disrespect. When laws are thought of in this way it's time to change them! Argument for a different thread though ....

Fairly standard parking space to which I returned late so got a ticket fair and square. However, I think I will contest on the grounds of the incorrect make, as if an authority is trying to extract money from the public, they have to get the facts correct. I think £40 for an extra 12 mins is a bit harsh. Doesn't quite fit does it?!

If its a traffic warden's ticket then probably not as it will 'slip'. A parking attendant's ticket wont be pursued when they make and VRM dont match though; or at least they shouldnt. The ticket isnt valid when a mistake like that has been made.

If you pay you can't appeal, you have accepted the fine....that's why its reduced if you pay in x days - it makes you weigh up your chances of appealing successfully vs. paying a smaller amount now - with most people paying the smaller amount.
I found this out when incorrectly given a parking ticket in London, fortunately I ignored it until the paperwork came through post and then appealed and won. It may be different in other areas though....

If you are guilty, just pay the £40 ...... the council will hear the appeal and will also have digital photos of the car and ticket (wardens take photos these days as evidence).
The council will uphold the fine and you will not have to pay £40 - but £60 (or whatever the higher figure is).
You can appeal to a higher level, but - fact is, it is your car - it is your fine - you are guilty ....... just pay up.
Why does no-one want to accept any responsibility these days for their actions???

Do yourself a favour and call the issuing council before taking any advice from all the 'experts' on SN
It's not us that get the summons for court, or bailiffs taking your car away in a year's time after you've moved house and they traced you after the £40 fine has turned into £1200 .
I have issued the odd police ticket and the only advice I give the unlucky person is "Don't ignore it - fight it, pay it, but never ignore as it will catch you up".

Yes you will Pete, if the VRM, make or colour are incorrect then the ticket is void. Had you considered that, unlike you, some people only post when they know what theyre talking about?

I've been advised NEVER to pay parking tickets as they basically rely on the good will of us all to pay up! They can't prove you were parked illegally (unless a photo is taken, rare though) so it's just their word vs yours which is no proof at all. Deny, deny, deny ...

Alternatively it could be said to show that people such as you no longer have any respect for the law of the land and like most people in the UK are happy to get what they can by bending, breaking or just plain ignoring the law. Argument for a different thread though ....

If the details are wrong then yes, you will get off.
FFS Parking Monkeys - not a difficult job even for the thick@rse scum who do the job.
Steps to a sucessful ticketing
1) Look at parking ticket on display
2) If no ticket or ticket expired (check watch to verify) then issue a ticket
3) Ticket must contain the correct information
Not ******* hard is it. One simple job, three steps.
