Used to go between the ages of 8 and 18, mostly with my dad, who got me interested in the first place. Now in my 40's and thinking of taking it up again

C4 or Semtex depending on what i could get ahold of
I have no idea, i only just found out (listening to the early morning fishing show on Sport Talk or whatever it is called) that the hooks do not have barbs anymore.
I do have a hankering to start again, never really did any sea fishing, confined to lakes, rivers and canals.

yes mate i do use paste on occasions,my own recipie made from melted pellets and spam, usually i use sweetcorn and spam but i have started trying cat food type treats because i have been getting the fish to rise up in the water after dribbling in the pellets, good fun with a pole dont even need a float.
heres the place i fish at Fisheries.co.uk - Ian Heaps Premier Fisheries, Narberth, Pembrokeshire, Wales if youre ever down my neck of the wood on holidays you should try it.

gtijames get a blender ground half a pound of omega pond pellets up to a powder then put it through a siv it makes it finer. put powder in a bowl. measure 10 fluid ounce of water into a jug and add one egg mix together...then get some sweettex..the one people use for tea....crush until you have one and a half teaspoon full and add to the powder..then add the water and the egg to the powder..the water and egg mixed together....mix all together and you will end up with the paste...

I`m a member of pride of derby they got some awesome lakes at shardlow.
As for bait , i`m a basic kinda guy , plain breadcrumb groundbait with a few pinkies chucked in for good measure, double pinkie on hook, fished on pole in lake margins great for bream n rudd.
Got a couple of carp rods but dont see it as proper fishing with all the bite alarms, bivvy, sofa, fridge, tv , and all that rubbish.
I go fishing to get away from all that, phone gets turned off and lobbed in the basket somewhere, enjoy the river/lake whilst your there
Edit: fishery website Pride of Derby :: Catch a bigger fish.
