Question Do The Chinese Always Do What They Are Told?

No cars with a Numberplate ending in an even number were allowed in Beijing today ..... and they all complied!!!

I can just see Ken Livingstone saying that all 'Fords' 'Vauxhalls' and 'Subarus' stay out of London on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday .... 'BMW's stay out all the time

Imagine SN post count about THAT

Why do the Chinese comply 'for the greater good' and we only care about ourselves??

Because if they don't, they will be shot.

Here, the best you can hope for is a stern telling off and your DNA taking "for the list".

LOL they dont comply for the greater good, they comply for fear of "dissapearing" or having a tank drive over their family! If Ken declared that if you drove your car into London next week he would have you an your family dissapear, you'd make alternative arrangements that day too

But as the Monty Python song says:
The world today is absolutely crackers
With nuclear bombs to blow us all sky high
There's fools and idiots sitting on the trigger
It's depressing, and it's senseless, and that's why..

(Singing)
I like chinese
I like chinese
They only come up to you knees
Yet they're always friendly and they're ready to to please

I like chinese
I like chinese
There's nine hundred million of them in the world today
You'd better learn to like them, that's what I say

I like chinese
I like chinese
They come from a long way overseas
But they're cute, and they're cuddly, and they're ready to please

I like chinese food
The waiters never are rude
Think of the many things they've done to impress
There's maoism, taoism, yjing and chess

I like chinese
I like chinese
I like their tiny little trees
Their zen, their ping-pong, their ying and yang-ese

I like chinese thought
The wisdom that confucius taught
If darwin is anything to shout about
The chinese will survive us all without any doubt

So, I like chinese
I like chinese
They only come up to you knees
Yet they're wise, and they're witty, and they're ready to please. all together!

Wao, I chumba run
Wao, I chumba run
Wao, I chumba run
Ne haoma, ne haoma, ne haoma chi tzsen

I like chinese
I like chinese
They're food is guaranteed to please
A fourteen, a seven, a nine and lychees

I like chinese
I like chinese
I like their tiny little trees
Their zen, their ping-pong, their yin and yang-ese

I like chinese
I like chinese
(Fade out....)

not entirely true. i had a phone call at 11:30pm one weekday night from someone i know asking me to help teach someone a lesson. apparently he'd been into the local take-away, verbally abused all of the staff (he was pretty hammered). they soaked up all the abuse and were very polite - they even opened the door for him. then they followed him outside, gave him a few bruises and emptied the take away containers on his head. served him right!

It might be an urban myth but didn't they try that in Athens a few years ago to try and reduce traffic / smog ?

They simply went out and bought an old banger with an odd / even number plate LOL
