Ipod Shuffle questions
Hi all
My brother has received an Ipod Shuffle as a birthday gift. He says it can only be used with Itunes and be charged from the PC.
Questions:
1.Can he transfer his music CDs to Itunes then download onto the Ipod?
2.I haven't seen it but can he get a separate plug-in-wall type charger? He's going on holiday soon so will want to use it whilst "away from his PC"!
I was under the impression that you can just drag and drop music files from a PC to Ipod. Is that not the case?
If a "shuffle" is unsuitable for what he requires is there a better alternative?
Thanks
Nick

to transfer music to anything Apple, you need to use iTunes to manage the music on the device.
You can buy mains chargers, check eBay, pretty cheap. Not sure if the shuffle can be charged by this method though, im sure a 'shuffle' owner will be able to help you out with that bit.
On an iPod you can drag and drop music if you enable 'disk use' but this music wont appear in the library as playable music.

The correct answers are :
1. Yes, rip the CDs into itunes
2. Yes, several chargers available, note they are different for 1st gen and 2gen shuffles. I assume you have a 2nd gen shuffle, iPod Shuffle Mains Charger (2nd Generation) - Porta-Charge
3. It comes in for a lot of critisism from the non ipod brigade that you cant drag and drop songs, but itunes is a great bit of software when you get use to it and far easier to organise your music collection in that than in folders.
