The self inflating ones are supposed to be as comfy as an airbed. Anyone vouch for that?

I used SWMBO. Very comfortable to sleep on. Great airbags, too

Airbed with memory phone mattress topper, it's the minimum I'll put up with when camping

i like to travel light, probably as a result of attending scooter rallies over the last 18yrs or so! never bothered with a mattress or a mat - just a sleeping bag. once you take the sleeping bag out of the carry bag, you can roll your coat up and use it as a pillow
sadly most of our scooter club are the wrong side of 50 these days, so they can't cope with the elements as well as they used to, so it's mostly b&b's now

Wjats the difference? I don't know whether mine is an airbed or self-infating matress. I know it works and iscomfortable, although next time I'll get 2 singles rather than 1 double.

Got one of these too - while I used to sleep on a (surf)boardbag and be fine (plus bivvying out in the Brecons in Winter), I now need a little more comfort.

These cost about £25, last forever, don't go down and are as comfy as a decent "proper" mattress. Need blowing up but it doesn't take long.

Use ours as a spare bed when loads of people stay and all say it's very very comfy.

Sounds like you were taking tips off a certain person at JAE

If you want comfort - get a hotel - if you want to camp, bivvi and a roll mat
