T'was in the background whilst doing other things on Weds, watched properly on Thurs, again in the b/g instead of Neighbours before w*rk Fri, watched properly again at w*rk Fri night and just caught bits the other times, so only twice properly.
I might watch it again tonight if I get bored though. Or maybe Die Hard 4

Along with the Florida holiday special this is top notch TV and the Top gear team should be looking to do more of these specials.
Very good entertainment from the BBC as usual
This is an amazing quote from the Arctic Trucks

The plan was to get a fuel by a plane that would pick up part of the TV crew, but no airplane had been able to land at Issachen for a long time (since sometimes last year, I think).
The question was how could we get fuel to get back? We found some oil barrels from 1974 but were very concerned of using it on the modern common rail diesel engines in
the Hilux and the Land Cruiser.

I know. I was a bit dubious at first, especially as modern trials bike wheels have no security bolts fitted to prevent tyre creep from ripping the valve from the inner tube. Seems to work fine though. Apparently the rims have serrations that keep the tyre in place.

I thought it was absolutely superb telly and thoroughly enjoyed it. Yes poor old hamster got the short end of the stick, that must have been tough. I went to lapland last year and having spent a few hours at -24 with proper gear on and starting to feel it I can kind of appreciate what those guys went through, but hey sleeping in a tent and enduring -42 takes some doing!

I think it was a very good programme. Great idea and a good production. Absolutely full of real entertainment as well as a window on what it is really like under those conditions.

He does have a point about the magnetic pole rather than the north pole. They seem to feel the need to claim a bigger achievement than they have managed. What they did was great, but they should just have made it clear where they went

It was pretty clear from the sat nav readouts and the maps they kept showing that they were'nt going to the true north pole.
Still, driving through those boulder fields can't have been easy.
I enjoyed the programme, but the overall impression I got was of how just arrogant and unpleasant the presenters are.
I thought it very amusing when the ex-special services guy pushed Clarkson into the water, and when he climbed out he started to say "how dare you spea....." but was immediately shouted down by the guy, and then the weasel quickly complied when he realised that he wasn't dealing with one of his usual sycophants.
I thought Ranulph Fiennes dealt with them quite well too.
Geezer

I was watching James May's 20th Centrury program the other day on Beeb2 and was thinking all three of the guys are excellent presenters in their own right, so putting them together is a masterstroke.

Yeh and noticed he threw this comment in.
So it would upset him further to know that the Hilux 3.0D doesn't fall into band G tax. The Hilux, along side over half of 4X4 SUV's on sale, pumps out less than 225g/km required for band G.
Of all the vehicles in Band G 85% are not 4X4 SUV's.
He's just another anti-4X4 green loony and the above facts are not convienient for the green lobby who want 4X4's banned.
Cheers
