Pamplona Bull Running?
Would you?
I understand different cultures do things differently but this just seems a bit mental.

Couldn't have put it better myself mate, when myself and the wife see stuff like this on tv,we cheer on the bulls and nothing pleases us more than seeing some **** thats goading the poor beast being gored!!! C'mon the Bulls!!!!! .
P.S before anyone starts,i like a nice sirloin steak as much as the next man , but unnecessary cruelty is just not on.

Nice to see everyone on here agreeing
I think it's the whole animals as entertainment thing that gets me. Same as performing dogs on the TV. It's a dog ffs, it chases stuff and picks up sticks, don't dress it up and make it walk on it's back legs.

Go there and try it or at least watch it before commenting. It isn't a sport and the locals don't describe it as such- it's part of the festival of San Fermin. Perhaps you are confusing it with bull fighting?
Then again I don't imagine you've got the cojones to do it. Best to stick to your harvester meals and pints of stella.

I would have thought most people with any common sense would not confuse having ***** with stupidity, being caught up in the moment, peer pressure or trying to act macho...

To me its a completely different culture, its not something I condone but thats their way of life and its nowt to do with me. Just like eating dog in Korea etc. Its just a different way of life to us.

Hmm, a pint of Stella and a mixed grill at Harvesters, or getting chased by a load of angry sirloin with a pointy end, tough choice but I think the mixed grill just about has the edge

I'll take tapas, cana, rioja and an adrenalin rush over your slice of mediocrity any day.

It's nothing to do with being 'tough'. Then again you wouldn't know because you haven't been there. A bit like all these other people who haven't got a clue..........

As I understand it this is where the bulls are allowed to run through the streets of Pamplona and the locals join in at great danger to themselves. The bulls are not attacked and hurt during the run.
When it comes to bullfighting in the ring, I have seen this once in La Linea and was absolutely disgusted The bull is weakened by having spears stuck in him before the bull fighter appears who then does a few passes before killing the bull with a sword in the knape of the neck. It takes a while for the poor creature to die.
I left the scene because I could not stand seeing the shameful spectacle any longer!

it's totally mental. i went to the bull run in ceret, france - near the spanish border. watching from behind a crash barrier and sipping pastis, i noticed that a popular dare amongst the french lads was to see who could run up behind the bull and stick their arm up its ****.
apparently the higher the brown 'tidemark' on the ****-stickers arm, the harder and more sexually alluring he was to the opposite sex. naturally, there was much bellowing. from the bull. and a few injuries to those who tried it.
the french eh? takes all sorts. leave them to it i say. no wonder they smell. at least the bull didn't have TB.

The problem with the bull run is that its become one of those 'rights of passage' for seppo tourists who spend hours bragging about how awesome it was. Came through Pamplona last weekend (mistake as I'd forgot we were at the end of the festival) and couldn't find anywhere to stay that wasn't full of seppos.
