I'm thinking about changing my current DVD. I've been looking a the sony DVPNS900 which will also do SACD.

Last time I looked into it SACD was competing against DVD-Audio and (SACD) was a sony only thing. Is DVD-Audio still around and how much material is available in each ?? - Any got either and like to comment.

That particular player stands a good chance of getting Wife-Approval 'cos its the QS range and will match the Amp but I dont want to pay for something that will be obselete .....

DVD-A is just starting to become available over here - it's only the real specialists that are doing it at the moment. I have been looking for Cracked Rear View ( Hootie & the Blowfish ) in this format since it came out. My only 'lead' at the moment is these guys http://www.vivante.co.uk/Site/Home.html . SACD is no good for me, since I play all my CD's through the DVD player ... allegedly the transport on a DVD player is of higher quality than most non-high end CD players, anyway.

click on the music albums tab and search for 'Super Audio'

Not sure if your album is there, but they seem to have most SACD titles.

In a couple of reviews I read, SACD is better than DVDA.

I have a SACD player (a Sony one) it is excellent quality. The only album I have in SACD format is Santana - Abraxas. The quality is head and shoulders above normal CD.

The Sony model you are looking at had superb revies in one of the AV mags a few months ago.

I would go for the cheapest SACD/DVD player as it is a bit like the VHS/Betamax fight a few years back...

Sony developed Betamax to be better than VHS but look what happened.... being technically better is no guarantee of success!

I'm hanging fire for the moment to see who comes out top.
