Question What if a car, declared SORN.........

.............needs some work?

I've laid my Scoob up, as the tax is up, and I'm working away for a month and ahalf this summer. I WOULD like to get the cambelt changed though.

Is there a way of doing this legally?

Thanks, Alcazar

Yes, borrow a trailer

AFAIK, you cannot put the car on the road for any reason whilst its declared as SORN

Risk it?
Small fine and no points.

Or book it in for an MOT test..... (my thinking being that you can't tax without MOT, and you can drive to a pre booked MOT test with no MOT/tax)
Make sure it is pre booked and you have proof of it.

Yep, as above - book it into the garage as an MOT - then it's legal (just that the garage will do a cambelt change instead).

It must be pre-booked .... the garage will have no issue with it at all - just make sure you take the closest route (no, going via. Aberdeen and Cardiff!!)

Cheers for that.

Shortest route to my local garage is about two minutes, so no problems with going via Aberdeen, then. LOL

Wonder if it would be legal to tow it there.

Yes you could tow it, or do you mean with a rope rather than on a trailer?
