Vodafone text question
I have the impression I am being stitched up by Vodafone (nothing new there!).
I have a stupid Qtek pda / phone thing which when I try to write a text it only allocates 160 characters before it makes it into two texts.
Can you please check if you are on Vodafone that when you go to write a text, how many characters it allows you to use per text as I am sure that everyone else I speak to has 1000 characters!
Thanks
Fitz

No, All SMS (Short Message System) are made up of multiples of 160 chars. Most phones nowadays will let you compose messages made up of more than 1 "page". Back in the day you would have to send each 160char message separately!

Ah ok thanks for that, so on other phones, even though its showing 1000 characters in essence it is showing 6 text messages.
Ok fair enough, just felt like I was getting a raw deal, seems like I was wrong!
Thanks

tip... if you get charged for texts and wish to send a long message ie 1000 characters then it may well be more economic for you to send an MMS instead which has a limit of 1000 I believe.

Well this came about because I had a look at my friends phones, nokia 6280, a samsung phone, and a couple others. When they were typing texts their character counter, counted down from 1000 - so I assumed that they could use all 1000 on one text. (Assumption being the mother of all fcukups).
Obviously I was wrong, so I'm guessing then than after they clock 160 characters, they are billed for two texts etc.

O2 used to just give me 1000 txts and MMS was deemed 4x txts, not sure if that is still the case. As always, everyone is after your hard-earned
