I thought the first film was excellent. Just goes to show what a diverse lot we are! There were flaws in the storyline and sequencing but if you can submerse yourself in a film and put yourself in one of the lead characters positions for the duration there is a great film there.
I wont watch the sequel though as it is "big budget" and I really dont think there can be a sequel. At the end of the first, we're led to believe our heroes are saved - presumably flown off the island to a nice place like Guernsey or the likes.
Are we now to believe that several months later, we have found more uninfected folk who too will successfully stave off the onslaught of rage filled zombies?
As a fan of British movies, this is the best horror film we have produced in recent times but I appreciate it doesnt lay it on a plate like most of the yank films.

I too thought the first one was great and like Doc, I'm a great fan of british films (****** and Dog Soldiers in particular )
Haven't managed to get to see the second one yet, but it's on the to-do list.

There is a common theme here because Dog Soldiers was a shocking waste of celluloid as well
Maybe I'm missing the point. When I watch a horror film I want to be scared sh1tless, not laugh my socks off.
Cheers

I hope that the second one is a lot better. The first one had some many things that seemed wrong with it. Like the taxi in the tunnel...I mean wtf. The guy had defended his daughter for ages, was clued up and then goes and does that. Just how did all the cars get piled up in the tunnel, and where did the ramp come from to get them over them all? *sigh*
Could have been so much better than it was...

I thought the fist was intense, although it lost a bit of momentum once they got to the army base.

Too many inconsitencies for my liking.
Why were all the motorways empty? Did people get the rage virus, pop home and park the car safely before going psycho? And why were there cars in one tunnel and nowhere else...?
Plus I don't think I can take any zombie movie seriously after Shaun of the Dead. I kept expecting them to park up the taxi and get a box of albums out of the boot to throw at maruading zombies....

I thought it was a cracking filum
Obvioulsy its not mean't to be a Citizen Kane, so view and enjoy as such.
Mind you Citizen Kane started out as a filum about winters ports

I too thought the 1st film was superb, ok its no Oscar winner, but it created a good feeling of Britain wiped out to the haunting sound of Brian Eno's The Ending.
I think most of the people who watched it in the cinema thought it was pretty scary, as the whole place jumped when the Zombie stormed the window of the house after seeing the candle light.

I quite liked 28 Days Later, partly as I feel the animal activists will cause such a problem at some point. Regardless of that, it's not too bad a film. I've not yet seen 28 Weeks Later, will probably wait until it's on DVD.
Have to agree with Beth that after SOTD it's hard to watch any kind of horror/zombie flick without expecting some zany SOTD like humor to crop up

Ahhh but I saw the light and half an hour into SOTD realised it was as funny as that fruity fella from the Friday Night Project mixed with a little AIDs and walked out...
My soul is cleansed and I can watch zombie flicks without fear of flashbacks from SOTD

I enjoyed the film but indeed there was so many flaws in it. I mean the tunnel bit when they changed the tyre in like 30 secs and then jumped alot of cars was just ott.
Plus when they went into the supermarket for food in town they weren't even on their guard against the crazies. YET 5 mins later when they stopped for fuel in a disused station they were paranoid as ****.
one mistake in film is at start. You see Jim walking up a street. if you look closely at the top of the screen there is a person walking.
Plus why oh why do the british army all have to act like a bunch of deranged tossers.
Honest to god i sometimes wonder who directs all these films where you can guess whats coming round the corner. What happened to the 80s classics like Alien and the Thing built on suspense and atmosphere.
