For just 80 quid I'd ask him to mail you a bunch of Euros. Or I'd have thought he could send you a Euro cheque which you bank and get charged by your bank.

Wire transfer is a hassle and you have to send him more than just your account details. IBAN numbers etc which your bank can give you. Then they will charge you for all this. Safe enough if you can be arsed with all the fuss.

Is a transfer reversible. Could he pay, recieve the goods, then somehow get his money back?

I wouldn't deal with anyone outside the UK.

Just my patriotic opinion.

Not once the payment is cleared by your bank. He could only cancel the transfer if it had not been completed.

The only way he could get his money back once the funds were in your account would be if your bank facillitated the transfer.

**** off you jumped up *****.

From recent experiences I have had where an account I have no cheque book for, no montly paper statement and no card had £500 taken. I have learnt to be careful. No way at all I would hand out bank details to someone I don't know in a foreign Just for the record I was out of school a fair few years ago and I was taught to look after my money.

Hate tossers like you making statement like that - if you dont like advice my don't take it. That's my opinion.

I which case your bank is 100% at fault for allowing the cash to be removed without your consent.

Unless you had previously signed a direct debit mandate and forgotten about it?

you havent learnt to be carefull - you have learnt to worry about the wrong thing. its like having a car crash and saying you will only drive backwards from now on because you had a bad experience going forwards.

and your "advice" is pants......thats why i dont like it, and thats not my opinion...its fact.

They were at fault but it was a lot of hassle to sort out, then I had to subsquently open a new account with my branch to make sure it didn't happen again.

No D/D or standing order just a fraudster at work.

Sure you've sorted this but yes, cery common in the EU.
I had to do one recently for some accomodation near nurburgring the B&B sent me a long list of stuff but all it needed was the account name, IBAN No. Account No and amount.

Cost me a tenner for a NatWest Relay payment but also cost her £8.50 in conversion charges etc. If you do it make sure he ticks the "pay all charges" (or spanish equivalent) or you will be down on your money.

I would not dream of giving him my bank details. The IBAN route would seem a much safer way to do it in my opinion.

??

The IBAN number is provided in addition to the bank details. But as I said the simplest method is simply to mail cash (registered) or send a cheque which will be made out in Euros and banked with one form to complete. dl

Les - every time you pay a bill by cheque you are giving total strangers your bank details, and signature.

Thanks for the advice. I've decided against it even though it flies in the face of logic. Its also the fact that its from abroad and he insists on it, when a cheque or cash is what i'd prefer.

you do understand that a cheque will give him MORE info than a bank transfer as you also provide him with your sig?

Not entirely relevant as it's the guy in Spain who owes the money
