The major bands get paid for a couple of hours at Glastonbury? Just curious.

I hope they give it all to charity. As well as planting a Tree to offset their carbon footprint for traveling to the festival.

They saved money and carbon at the last U2 gig. The stage was illuminated by the light shining out of Bono's ****

If they play for free then Id like to know where £26,000,000 (in ticket sales alone, never mind the revenue generated by onsite traders) goes.....?

Mr Evis was interviewed the other day about this and they actually demanded £400,000 but the timing was never right.

Have a look at all the behind the scenes stories/explanations type links on the BBC coverage....it shows pretty well how the money is spent and how much it all costs. They've got 1000's of workers there and they get paid a good whack for the weekend. One guy (trainee barrister) said it would pay for a holiday and for his training/bar school which i imagine is quite expensive. Plus all the costs of hiring massive amounts of infrastructure etc, policing, security, insurance...
