Question

My sister is in her second year of doing Health & Safety and Enviomental Heath at Nottm Trent Uni
Next year she needs a WorkPlacement for her third year.

can anyone give any ideas to where she could apply and who would need a trainee H&S officer

in Nottingham would be ideal!! lol (cost of living away on student wage)
but East Midlands area etc would be ok

She can drive!!

Has anyone else been in this boat??

Might be worth giving Rich Askew a shout Phil - IIRC, he's been a H&S monkey at some point.

3rd year of my computing degree was a placement year and there was an office set up within the department to provide info and help students get placed.

If the department is going to give help, fine but if not, a little bit of initiative is all it takes.

Most companies that offer graduate recruitement schemes also offer placement opportunites so search as if she's looking for a proper job. Most company recruitment websites should have a placement section, and even if they don't, a quick CV emailed or sent to the approprate person should be a start and shows initiative.

Try the following as an example:

www.pgcareers.com

Placement schemes also pay fairly well, at least enough to allow moving for a particualr job, which is often necessary and can pay dividends in the long run in terms of experience gained and the company name you work for and can add to your CV.

cheers

fris

Try some of the big players in Notts...

Boots, Experian, Capital One, Siemens.

All these have H&S departments/staff.

Its worth a try.
