Depends on your type of business. Im an IT contractor, and use an accountant in St. Albans despite living in Rustington. Althought its nice to meet up with your accountant at the start, I havent seen my one for years, as we speak over the phone. NOt a bad thing, as the git charges me for the meeting anyway :-)

So, I would choose on expertise in you're field of business, than location.

Thanks Jack and SBK. The business type is photography and the money involved is very small at the moment but I still gotta do it. (

I really want to meet up with an accountant as I have so many questions and would prefer to met in person the first few times.

Darren, by the sounds of it your going to be a sole trader ?? The best source of information is always the internet. Ive been a contractor now for 10 years and have met / worked with lots of other contractors. When you talk to them about what / how they claim for things, you soon realise that there isnt a correct answer, as each accountant is different, and advises differently.

My accountant is pretty much a hard 4rse, and always questions why Im claiming for this / that. I dont mind, as I know that my accountant has a very good relationship with the inland revenue. Now, I know that means nothing, as the process of how people are inspected is bascially a random pick, but I hope by having a strict accountant, that the inland revenue leave me alone.

Accounts, accountants, all a real ball ache :-) Best of luck though.
