Default Advise needed on redundancy

Hi

My friend runs a family owned business but work has suddenly dried up. He wants to reduce overheads to compensate and has no choce but to lay off some staff.

What are the best procedures to go about doing this. He knows that the workers entitled to redundancy pay (receive a weekly wage for every year of service)

Are there steps you have to take???

Thanks

Yes there are formal procedures he needs to go through. If he doesn't do it absolutely correctly then he may be liable for unfair dismissal claims.
