Chris Davies, **** orf and go and find a tree to hug instead of inflicting the rest of us with your sandal-wearing, cave-dwelling, lentil-eating view of how the world should be

I fail to see how limiting cars speed is going to help with carbon - there's only a small fraction of cars driving at this speed for a tiny fraction of the time. This idea will not come to fruition - think of all the Maranello employees who'll have to find work with the Cosa Nostra instead !!

Actually he may have a point since 99% of the time we never go over 100mph anyway. If we limit the speed of cars, it would be possible to make them lighter too since the cars would no longer need to have the extra steel to make them safe at these speeds, or the extra fuel to haul the weight. Weight is the issue, not speed.
I'm thinking Lotus Elise concept. Lightweight, modest engine, fuel efficient and big performance. Ok not every car can be made with an aluminium honeycomb monocoque chassis, but surely reinforeced plastics, aluminium, plastic body panels, etc could be used.
Whilst I don't necessarily agree with arbitory 101mph limit, it could encourage manufacturers to make their cars lighter and concentrate on performance within that limit and stop manufactures competeting for ever increasing pointless top speed and bhp figures. I'd much rather have a car that could accelerate quickly to a 101mph limit than a car that can do 155+mph.

Crashes that happen at 60mph or over usually result in deaths.
If cars were ever limited to 101mph, then it would only be a matter of time before they were calling for them to be limited to 70mph (the fastest you can legal travel in the UK anyway). There then would be call for electronic speed limiters to make sure you couldn't do 31mph in a 30 zone. There would then be calls to make cars more crash resistant at 70mph (as cars now don't/can't go any faster). making them heavier still.
Introduce one thing and the lefty loonies would want more and more, resulting in cars with Air bags on the outside for pedestrians to stupid to realise that stepping out in front of a moving one and a half tonne metal object might hurt.

Its about time that there was a safety campaign to educate pedesrians not to walk along the middle of a road or off the pavement when it is available or to cross the road without looking first and even with their backs to the traffic. They really are unfairly arrogant to drivers!

The European Commission is preparing legislation that would limit CO2 emissions of the average new car sold in Europe to 130g per kilometre, by 2012.
But a spokesman said it would not support moves to limit the top speed of cars.
Since when did anything a lib dem said matter!!!

So, they make booze more difficult to get, cars get banned, **** get banned and I suppose they will then ban sex, television, computer games, w4nking and tasty food.

Leftie ****.
Noticed he wants 20% of adverts to refer to emissions and fuel economy -
"The Bugatti Veyron. 1000bhp and 0-60 in 2.4 seconds. Oh, and it'll do 3 miles to the gallon and **** the hell out of Greenpeace".
