Outbreak Bird Flu in St Helens, exclusion zone setup
Cant seem to find out too much about this, but the local news said a 1 Km exclusion zone has been setup in St Helens, where I live but they don't know where at the moment
Well if I get up tomorrow to go to work, and there is yellow tape across the road, I'll have a day off

Pete
I have died from Mad Cow desease previously, at least my namesake has
It was quite freaky when I heard that story on the radio, I was in the car with my boss, and this story came on the news that two blokes in Stockport had died from CJD and they were both mine and my boss' name, freaky

More on the story now
Bird flu outbreak in St Helens
OUTBREAK: 22 chickens have been following the outbreak on a farm in Rainhill
« Previous « PreviousNext » Next »
View GalleryPOULTRY on a farm in Rainhill have tested positive for bird flu.
The birds were found to have the H7N2 strain following tests by scientists at the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).
The 22 chickens and three ducks tested positive on Thursday (June 7). They are linked to the outbreak in north Wales where contaminated birds were traded at the Chelford market.
The private non-commercial farm has been put under restrictions and a 1km boundary has been imposed around the property.
The birds, together with three peacocks and a peacock chick also at the farm, will now be slaughtered, said the Defra spokeswoman.
A Defra statement said: "Tests have provided positive results for low pathogenic avian influenza in poultry on a non-commercial small holding near St Helens, Lancashire, England.
''Birds at the holding were purchased from the market held in Chelford on Monday, May 7, associated with the recent outbreak of H7N2 low pathogenic avian influenza in Conwy, North Wales.
Fred Landeg, Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer added: "The tests were carried out as part of the normal tracings activity which is under way following the outbreak in Wales.
"This is an extensive exercise, and this is the only premises to date with evidence of infection."

It's near you in Rainhill Steve, so it's the bindippers who have it, not the Tellinsers
I always said we should have border patrol but that was to reduce crime, bad accents and a series of fashion faux pars... We now have a medical reason too
Keep 'em out!

Cheers Sonic. I am always in sprits in a pub Enjoy the meet, I'll be aiming to get my wii age down to 20 that night!
My bird has been sneezing all week. She reckons it's just hayfever, but I think it may be avian flu
I'll set up an exclusion zone around my house and then head off to the pub just in case!
