Which car for a courtesy car.
Ok imagine your backed into a corner, and its a 1.2 Corsa or 1.25 Fiesta as a courtesy car.
Both on steels, both with AC, both 5 door.
Which would you rather be seen in?
A friend has just taken over a bodyshop and is replacing the courtesy cars and would like to see his customers happy, and company represented in the right light.

Voted Fiesta. It only just won over the Corsa on looks.
I think both cars when bog standard and new are fine in terms of image. It's when they are covered in glue and ram raided into Halfords that their image is tarnished.

I've driven a new shape Corsa twice as a courtesy car when the Ashtray has gone in.
Fine to look at, quite nice inside but SOOOOOO slow it hurts.
I'd go for the Fiesa - Quite a sweet little engine in the 1.25.

Was it the 1.0 or 1.2 you drove.?
IG of the Fiesta is a 4 as well, for the entry level spec with AC, compared to a 2 of the Corsa of the same spec.

I think the Fiesta is a fair bit lighter.
The Corsa looks good (IMO) and is very very well specced for a boggo car but the chassis is a bit iffy and that engine is just tragic.
I'm sure it's a lot better in 1.4/CDTi or VXR form but when pulling away at a roundabout is a life threatening mission, you know a car needs more oomph.
I use thw 1.2 Corsa to get the the Mitsi garage (killed two birds with one stone - test drive while having Astra serviced) and stepped out of a 366bhp Evo FQ360 into a 1.2 Corsa and honestly thought I'd left the handbrake on!

Clare - I've never liked their range and was gobsmacked when I drove thw mk5 Astra (having tested the Audi A4, Passat, etc) and it was very good indeed.
It also shook off lots of dumb preconceptions I had about "only buying German or Jap" - which was handy.
Would still NEVER buy French though - they seem to have got worse while everyone else has improved!

Anyway, I've only ever had one Ford and one Vauxhall in my life and I would favour the Vauxhall due to the look of them. They are much more innovative than Ford and the cars will look more modern for a number of years. The Fiesta looks more outdated than the Corsa already.
I'm sure there's nothing wrong with either of them, but has he considered a Polo? Had one when the Porsche went in a couple of years ago and it was quite a nice drive to be honest. Very nippy and not too wallowy.
Clare (Selling the French clutter for some Vauxhall soon!)

No very good reasons...
I've had a couple of bad experiences with a Victor (yes, it was a while ago ) and later a Cavalier.
More recently I had an Astra (not the new one) rental for a fair while... nothing went wrong with it to be fair, it was just very dull. Actually, the Astra was the worst experience of all in some ways... being in that car made me almost suicidal.
I appreciate the new ones are supposed to be better, although I don't personally like the look of them much.

I don't like v*uxhalls cos of their slow unresponsive steering, noisy clutch pedal, sloppy gear levers, crap interiors, crap looks plus they're driven by ***** who lean to left and have their seats so far back that they can barely reach the steering wheel...other than that they're ok I guess
Bob, soon to be driving a Vivaro! I might buy myself a Renault grill for it!

We run Corsas....Had all sorts of courtesy/lease cars over the years and the Corsa is the only one that has stood in one peice (if a little bruised) when it has to be returned to the lease agent.
Yes, they don't drive as nice, but actually the current and new versions have superb pointy handling and plenty of lift off oversteer, ok the steering feel ruins it, but thats modern cars for you.
"Customers", if you can call them that are animals. Other makes, be it Fiestas/KA, Clios, Pugs etc have all suffered and needed rectification (suspension damage, broken trim etc) before we could return it whilst every Corsa we have had has never cost a penny.
Same with the Zafira too...The VW Touran that it replaced didn't fare as well...
From a business standpoint, the Corsa will serve you better IMO.
