"It won't be to be eveybody's taste immediately but it's a brand that we genuinely believe can be a hard working brand which builds on pretty much everything we said in Singapore about reaching out and engaging young people, which is where our challenge is over the next five years.
"If we don't that, then frankly the whole project is unsustainable."
Lord Coe
So the Olympic Games is about "engaging young people." WTF? And I thought it was about running faster, jumping higher, or throwing further than anybody else.
I think Lord Coe is the "unsustainable" bit. And the budget
Richard.

Saw the pink and yellow logo initially and thought it was someones idea of a joke, for a start the colours clashed and could probably spark a few migraines quite easily!!
Then I thought looking at it, surely it sends out a message that the London Olympics is for the gay people?!?! Wheres the old one gone, that was much better, I don't know why they needed to change it!
As for the £400k, someone is having a joke, probably took a 15 year old work experience boy a couple of days to come up with something!! Who is the design company? remind me to steer clear of them in future

Christ on a bike that look like some monged out cretin with a pack of crayolas scrawled something on the back of a *** packet! And that cost £400K.. WTF!??
I thought this one was pretty good, knocked up by some guy in his lunch hour
It's certainly better than the official one.. and they guy would have probably settled for a crisp £50 and a couple of pints!

Reminds me of something from the 80's like the 'Going Live' logo or the 'Top of the Pops' logo, all edgy and bright.
The Olympic committee say they are not going to change it despite public hatred of the thing. Stubborn gits! Just like the Government though isn't it? They always ignore public feeling!

"This is not just a marketing logo, but a symbol that will become familiar, instantly recognisable and associated with our Games in so many ways during the next five years."
"This is a truly innovative brand logo that graphically captures the essence of the London 2012 Olympic Games...."
and I really dont like the new swear filter much either

They have just released an 'animated' version to demonstrate how it works and how we have all misunderstood.
OH MY F****** GOD!! It makes it look a hundred times worse. This is really, really bad. Really bad!
OMFG!

Difficult to believe that people who are supposed to be intelligent can come up with such a crass attempt at a logo and not only that-pay £400k to the con artist who invented it!
What an Effing liberty!!!

Lord Coe needs to go back to school.
Definition of a brand = guarantee of consistency. Olympic logo is five rings. That’s it. No more. The end.
If Coe introduces a head-up-the-**** competition, he'll win gold. Is that the plan
Richard.
