Labour sells £2 billion stake in British Energy (Nuclear)
Government sells £2bn stake in firm - Yahoo! News UK
Is there anything left this government hasnt sold?
Gold reserves, UK industry etc etc - Brown wants to keep the illusion of the booming economy alive for a bit longer - whatever the cost in the longterm.
When things go pop the UK will be left with no assets and trillions of debt
I have a feeling it wont be long until UK motorways are sold off to private firms who will make money from tolls. Obviously we'll get a reduction in roadtax and fuel duty... not.

Er - you remember the bit where labour abandoned Clause Four back before Blair even got elected right?
And remind me again which party started the fashion for selling off state-owned industries to raise money to disguise the huge hole in the finances? Clue: it wasn't labour.

Yeah you're right, this is disgusting. The last straw.
Vote the Tories in as they would never sell off our industries to cover up their own economic shortcomings.
Sorry can't stop, got to go and pay my water bill and am having trouble understanding it as it appears to be written in French
P.S. What day this week is the housing crash coming?

First term - It was the previous Governments fault
Second term - Our policies are starting to have effect
Third term - You better have it right...
Any action taken by the Conservatives in the 80's is now irrelevant. We are 10 years into Labour rule, they have had more than enough opportunity to halt the privatisation of state run industry, the fact they have rolled with it, and gone even further than the Tories with PPP etc mean any such argument of "Well the Tories started it" is completely retarded
Exactly the same applies to the Tories bringing up "The winter of discontent" etc

This sort of response to political questions drives me up the wall. Blaming the previous Government is fine, for your first term.

The inital poster always seems to rant about NL as if the things they do have never been done before and I just think he might have a shock when the other lot get to power and we get more of the same.
The sad fact is we have two main political parties whose intention is to get elected and line their own pockets rather than stand for what they think is right for the country and its people.

To me it just shows that NL as a party have no direction. Labour ethos usually meant state run and owned public services...yet they follow the Tory path and privatise it.
With the Torys it is of no suprise, with NL however - who critcised the Torys for doing it, continue doing it themselves. Thats how pathetic and immature politicians can be.
Don't forget, its not just the power; Schools are being demolished and replaced with new ones; partly funded by private companies...back door privatisation. Education is still public, but the schools are starting to become privately owned. Same is happening with new Hospitial developments.
Before anyone starts, I don't see that as a problem; it's way for the goverment to cover its **** as it can't afford to invest. However, WHY it can't afford it is a huge problem where the blame lands squarely at the doorstep of no.10 (and no.11) Downing Street.
