Recommend me some trainers
I've joined a gym to increase my general fitness and lose weight so I'll be lots on the cross-trainer / cycle / rowing machine etc.
My old pumas are falling apart so I need some new trainers that will be comfortable and take care of my knees and coss less than about £50.
I've heard Asics are good, any others I should try?

Gary - Can't recommend Asics enough!
Had some for ages for a bit of running but mostly gyming and they have been excellent.
Recently got into trail running so got some "Moriko" ones (Gore Tex) and they are SO comfortable.
Just check your running style if using them for that - Flat, normal, arched and also your running "gait" - Mine are both normal so it's easy but if not, you need specialist kit.
Doing a 10k trail run soon and doing a lot of running with the dog and also when wife rides (very nice horse) - Love it!

Go to a GOOD sports/running shop and get them to recommend - ideally a shop where they do video gait analysis. I don't know where in the country you are, but I can't recommend Advanced Performance in Peterborough enough.
I run in Brookes because they suit my feet and provide the support/give where I need it - they may not suit you.

I use New Blanace 857 and Pearl Izumi synchroGuide indoors, Salomon XA Pro3D outdoors.
Visit up and running and find out where your local shop is. They will put you on a treadmill and watch your running style to see if you have a neutral stride or if you over pronate or under pronate. They will then recommend a number of shoes based on your stride.
When I started running I did this and the improvement I found in using the correct type of shoe was amazing as well as the reduction in pain!

But as the above member states try to find somewhere that can do the video analysis.
There's a huge sports shop in Bradford, West Yorks that does it, forget what it's called but it's next to the Hilton hotel more or less
