Phone line 'hiss'
Just got a couple new DEC handsets for the house. Work fine but I'm getting a lot of background hiss when on a call (or with the dial tone). Thought it might have been interference from my wireless route - so switched off the wireless part but hiss still there. However, switching off the entire ADSL router makes the hiss go. I've got splitters all round the house. Don't understand why these phones seem to be getting interference from the ADSL connection.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Richard.

Unplug the router from the phone line (but leave it switched on)... if the hiss goes then you know it's probably the microfilter... if it doesn't go then it's most likely RF interference from the router.
Can you change the channel on the phone or the router? Might make a difference...
Could be worth trying a different microfilter anyway as you might be getting induced RF in the phoneline...

Thanks Rage.
Well, it's not RF interference as unpluging the router from the phone-line (leaving it still on with wireless on) makes the hiss go.
Weird though as it didn't have a problem with my old phone - just these new ones that seem more sensitive.
