On my commute to work in the morning, I seem to keep passing these birds walking around in front of a farm gate.
Turkey?

I can see where you're coming from but look at the shape of the joint on the 3rd toe and the claws again and you'll see quite clearly that they are Guinea Fowl, the common Penguin's deadly enemies.
