I haven't seen it yet but from what I've heard theres too many story lines (almost like they cramed too many baddies in it).
Sony obviously want to have more films (cash cow!) but I doubt it would work without the same people playing the characters (Toby has said he'll only do no. 4 if the same director is used and Sam Raimi didn't like the fact he was forced into having Venom in no.3 so will prolly not want to do no.4).

Shame Venom was in 3, he got so little screen time with everything else going on. He should have been in SM4 as the sole baddy. Having Sandman & new Goblin would have been enough.
Still lots of good baddies for 4, 5 & 6 I guess.
Thought 3 was great, very similar to 1 & 2, but thats not a bad thing.

SPiderman 2 is the pinnacle of superhero movies for me, and 3 doesnt come close.
First problem is scripting and storyline. THe last 45-30 minutes feel rushed and a bit of a "How are we going to get out of this" moment for the writers. A few continuity errors and frankly glaring errors creep in.
The Characters have nowhere near enough developement. Sandman inparticular had the begginings of a really good storyline, but he fleets in an out. Venom similarly would have made a godo "main" baddie, but again the fact he appears for 30 minutes at the end of a 2h30 film means he is nowehere near developed enough as a character.
Harry Osbournes story line is ok, but uses one of the oldest cliches in history.
On the plus side, some of the CGI work is gobsmacking, the "birth" of Sandman is just stunning. Also some of the set pieces are fantastic, sheer "spidey" action.
Overall I was underwhelmed. It's good, but not *that* good.

Me and the mrs went to see this last Friday night
Got to agree with alot of what Pete B has said... the "birth" of Sandman was awesome
I don't usually agree with the film critic in the Evening standard who gave it 3/5 stars but I think he was alot closer than the Daily Stars 10/10 - I'd give it more a 8/10
If you liked the first 2 then I think most will like the 3rd....as for 3 more in the pipeline...... as someone mentioned above I think they'd only work if you have the same cast and so on

I don't understand why anyone would watch cam job version of a CGI based film like this?
Personally, I'd never watch a cam job of any movie, as if it's something I want to watch, I'd rather wait until it was on TV than watch a sh1tty version, but that's just me.

Went to see it on Saturday and thought it was rubbish - the storyline where the black blob stuff flies in on a meteor and just happens to attach itself to him was utter crap.
The only redeeming feature was Ms Dunst.
Also, the acting displayed by Spiderman's newspaper boss was woeful.

In the comics there is a whole background story to Venom, the goo, and how it gets to earth etc, I really thought it dropping to earth right next to Peter Parker was really lame.
