Does anybody know if this is definitely the case? Morpheous seem to think so.
Has the law actually been passed and we're just waiting for the start date?

I think the coppicemen are using non specific legislation at the moment. The actual specific ban has been mooted for 2 years now. Not sure what the current status is chap.

At the moment that's definitely the case, although if they were feeling particularly **** i'm sure they can still try and force it through on the grounds that you're not allowed to act upon the information gained from such devices, can't remember which offence they try and stick it on. Pretty sure they rarely if ever bother on that tack now.

There's mention of "Speed assessment equipment detection devices" in the Road safety Act - the act that recently made using a mobile phone while driving liable to points.
I'm not sure if that actually makes them illegal, or is just enabling legislation to allow them to be made illegal at some later date.
John.

Jammers are technically illeagal though as they are effectively an unlicenced broadcast, are actively preventing a police officer in carrying out his duties, and more tentitively interrupting police communications/systems (not sure about the last one - but I'm sure they'd give it a go..).

Traditional radar detectors - does anyone actually use these things anymore ??!!
having owned a few off the so called better ones over the years inc bell etc I personally found them impossible to live with with there almost constant false alerts ie. approcahing traffic lights etc, etc etc.......... !!!! to the extent that I ended up switching it off most days which is kinda defeating the object is it not ??!!
does anyone here still use a traditional radar / laser detector in there car ??
gone for the TomTom 1 v2 with the pocketsgps speed cam database installed, well chuffed with it and best off all no false alerts . well apart from the ones on the database !!!

I do, yeah. Along with Morpheous Geodesy. Yes you have to accept a certain amount of false alarms on the Bel but it's saved me from points on at least two occasions, maybe more.
Boomer yes i take your point, but Morpheous are capable of making traditional detectors, they just don't see it as the way forward. What baffles me is why their current GPS products are less sophisticated than their predecessors, seems like the current range is pretty basic in terms of functionality.

My road angel is the best of both, gps for fixed ones, and laser for guns. I've only ever had a false alert once, and that was my fault with my stereo remote. The other 2 times it went off it saved my licence, i would have lost it.
