any of you IT gurus no how to "untogggle" the control key in windows...
as when you press the "f" key - it tries to use the "find" command
when you press the "r" key - it tries to use the "run" command
any help would be gratefully received.

My uncle had this on a new XP PC. Quickest and simplest way round it is to reboot.

Not sure how you get to this state though.

Steve

You could be running "Sticky Keys" found under accessibility options. It's desinged for one handed poeple. Have a look. Also possible dodgy keyboard ??

Dont think you have to have accessibility loaded to do the sticky keys (though could be wrong )

press the left shift 5 times (on Win2K anyway) then options I think. Sounds the most likely (or a physically stuck key ?)

Cool

If its not the Accessibility Options control panel, then just wash the keyboard and make sure its totally dry before plugging it back in. Thats what I did when I poured a pint of Orange Juice into my keyboard.

Failing that / or just try smacking the keys hard-ish to un-stick it

i used to have this happen, what i did was hold down alt and shift and pressed a key.. say r, then just pressed r again, and it worked... think it is a bug.

Sounds silly, but try double-pressing (like double-clicking) the Ctrl key, this often clears it.
