BBC NEWS TONIGHT, FAST CARS!!!!
anybody see the news at 10pm tonight???
they had an article on fastcars and there drivers
with some celebrities crashing high performance cars, "road safety groups" are now wanting buyers of these cars tobe instructed on how to drive them and to coached on there behaviour , so not to speed or race on the public road
they showed some trackday footage and interviewed a woman at the track who owned a tvr
they showed an evo several times along with porkers and caterfields, but no subaru's
anyway, how long before you are not aloud to buy a scoob etc if you have points on your license

Yes, the l-u-u--r-v-l-e-y Fiona Bruce (purrr: ) saying "They do 0-60 in 2.5 seconds", pretending she has some concept of what that would mean !
Think they need to recalibrate their stopwatch anyway !
Yes, very fast cars are sometimes crashed, very fast, it's official !

Probably the start of a campaign to rid the streets of the menace of fast cars!

very odd subject most cars that crash on the roads are old cars driven by 17-20 lads or old people... dont think 10 or so supercar crashes is such a big issue, but it prob made better TV

Despite all the whining ( i didn't actually see the news report mentioned) but I do think it would be a good idea to introduce extra tuition into the driving test for more powerful / faster cars..
Similar to bikes.
Less likely that so many will be crashed as people will have learned respect for them / how to handle them when they do invariably bite you in the ***.
It would also lead to lower insurance premiums I expect. :

Agree with Fuzz - but it would prpbably have to come down to the car manufactors offering the driving courses. Honda did them for the old Civic type R and I believe for some of their bikes. If insurance companies offered them at a reasonable price and got a discount then more people would take them up ! All IMHO of course !

Can see the reasoning for the driving courses etc for these cars, I may well consider doing one myself. But what about all the prats who drive like complete loons in company insured vehicles who don't give a damn what they do on the road or hit as it doesn't affect their own insurance. Personally they worry me more than someone who has spent £50K of their own money on a TVR

Everybody should have some skid pan training, your average new driver can buy anything they want if they have the money and then operate on the public roads with no idea of its capabilities, they are nannied by Stability control, powerful brakes, ABS, 4wd and modern tyres and most of the time modern cars are idiot proof, especially lower powered ones, however some of the spicier stuff can still bite.

All drivers should be trained to IAM level if they want to own a car with more than a 1.4 litre engine.
Like the motorbike test where you can only get a 125 until you have passed a more rigourous test.
