We ARE going to war with Iran.....I'm told
Edited....
Suffice to say, plans are afoot to take us to war
...the recent hostage situation was that it was deliberate and planned, and the only thing unplanned was the early and unconditional release.
So, kiss goodbye to more young lives, a few more billion pounds and welcome in some more terrorist atrocities, whether actual or feigned to encourage public support. Here comes Brown's War.

Maybe our politicians should keep their greedy mitts out of other countries affairs in the first place, and stop creating situations to stir up tension just so we can go to war for oil and military contracts It isn't why we elect them, they are supposed to represent us, not resent us for being cynical and seeing through their plans.

So, out of respect to you, your colleagues and perhaps my friend, would it be prudent for me to edit my first post and let this discussion go ahead thereafter ?
I've made my own decision on that.

As for them finding out other ways. Possibly, probably - but kind of besides the point. The specifics of military contracts should not be up for public discussion ever - loose lips sink ships and all that.

Simple fact is there are some things that should not be up for discussion in the public domain for very good reason - and that is one of them.
I can sit here safe in the knowledge I've never voted for Blair and chums.. but I still have to go to their stupid wars

Unlikely to be the first strike/course of action.
Most likely scenario is an airstrike at the key military installations (around 300 in total). The UK and US do not really have spare capacity at the moment due other commitments.
Once Irans ability to detect and react to threats are diminished then again likely to be stategic air sorties and not ground troops going head to head.

Iran is not like Iraq or Afghanistan, it's actually quite a moderate country, with (albeit limited) elections and a high quality of life and relative freedom for it's inhabitants.
Supposed to be a great holiday place for all sorts of stuff, and the people are very friendly, do not consider themselves Arabs at all.
It really will be terrible crime if we invade them. They just happen to have a slightly nutty president, that's all.

I'm not so sure a war with Iran is on personally, I've no doubt the desire is there from certain people and there are undoubtedly battle plans for the invasion of Iran (but then Australia has similar plans for a military invasion of Indonesia, doesn't mean they get used)
It would be suicidal for the any government - the public just wouldn't buy it at all. This is an organised, fanatical country and there is no way the west would ever win without massive loss of life, if at all. It would make Iraq and Vietnam look like walks in the park.
It would escalate to be WW3 without a doubt. (strangely fulfilling quite a few prophecies as well)

I reckon that Bush and Blair are just going through all the countries in the 'I' section of the Atlas.
Just what we need, more killing, more expense and more negative publicity.
