Carpet underlay

looking at carpets at the moment, the main suppliers are hopelessly expensive so am looking at trade suppliers.

Traditional Rubbere Weave is cheaper see here: Tredaire Colours Carpet Underlay.Buy Tredaire Carpet Underlay online at Trade prices.

However this APT stuff seems popular and can be cheaper at various places:
Tredaire Dreamwalk and Softwalk Carpet Underlay from Carpets Direct (GB) Ltd

Anyone know the pros and cons of each?

Just had a new carpet fitted to my lad's room and found out the differences in underlay 'quality'. It's down to the rubber thickness - ooh eerr missus! Not 'top to bottom' as that has to be the same ish) thickness as the gripper bars but in the walls of the rubber 'tubes' that make it up. That's why better quality underlay weighs so much more. Or so I was told .... probably only true for that 'type' of underlay so if there is stuff made from different materials then I ain't got a clue gov' ...
