Has Scoobynet reached critical mass?
Or indeed is it past its peak?
I've been posting on this board for a good few years now, but lately it seems to have significantly slowed down.
Not in terms of the speed of the site, but in terms of posts and new threads.
Obviously I don't have the numbers for posts & traffic, but it used to be the case that, say, if you logged back on after a few days away, there would be up to a couple of new pages of posts in most of the busier forums.
Recently, its been the case that logging on after a long weekend, there doesn't appear to be anything like the same number of new threads.
Its not like the threads themselves are still active because of new posts either, with many of them showing no activity since last login.
I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this?

It had crossed my mind I must admit. I guess there is only so many times you can post up a picture of an Impreza in a lake or have a WRX sport vs CSL M3 in the twisties debate

Yep past its prime I'm afraid.
Used to have a great laugh at some of the threads on here and the technical stuff was legendary. Struggle to get more than an hour of entertainment now, used to be able to waste an afternoon easily.
RIP ScoobyNet

I'd agree.
There was a time you could click between forums and there was always something new to look at. Now I really have to go looking for thread to wind people up on

Yep. Noticed this about 4-5 months ago when I couldnt spend a whole day here, jump out of one thread and there was 5 more posts on the old thread you were looking at, read them, make a post, back to the forum and 2 new threads with loads more posts on the other thread.

The best days were those of the World Events forum which were difficult to keep up with as it moved so fast Wasn't that politically correct though

Yep I have noticed a slow down over the last few weeks / months. I have been on everyday since buying my Impreza, I work in IT so have little else to do for the 12 hours I'm at work.
It seems to have dropped off a lot since the infractions thing started.
Is it me or do all the scoobs in the gallery look the same these days? nothing new to look any more it seems, it's all spoilers and side skirts etc.

Its funny spidery looking user name person, because I thought exactly the same when I logged in yesterday...
The speed of new threads has reduced dramatically it seems... So much so that even I have started current affairs threads in NSR (which I never did before)...

I've noticed a slow down as well. I've looked at the SIDC every now and then but it's too obviously not a work related site. In fact it's quite difficult to find somewhere interesting that doesn't have avatars and other graphics that make a site look non-work related.
I suspect it's just a temporary slow down, there have been slow patches in the past and it's picked up again.

I think it is merely reflecting the marque and it's owners in real life. Subaru's glory days are in the past at the moment. And it doesn't matter that the WRX and STI are phenomenal cars for the money, image is more important these days.

Defo slowed down. Case in point, I posted a link last night to the all new M3 (official BMW pix) checked just now and no replies after 12 hours!!! In days gone by there would already have been a running battle between the BM haters and lovers!

It does seem that a fair amount of core users have left or no longer actively post. Many of which were on here much longer and have put up with alot more than users from more recent users.
The reasons as to why are a plenty, speculate as one may on the exact reasons as to why would point towards the following: Lack of control and active administration of the forums, immaturity of various users (both trolls and owners with fast & furious tastes and little knowledge ), increasing commercialisation of the site and lack of any real in-forum technical expertise in terms of giving members advice, not just generic write ups; The people who know what's what aren't here, what advice you get from members now is from someone equally or even less informed than yourself. Blind leading the blind, so to speak LOL. As for the infraction system, although needed, one fears that it is too late and the way it is administered and implemented is somewhat questionable, and this leads back to these initial point of lack of overall control of the board and ability to cope with its usage base.
A point to note on the user base of this forum, the 67,701 plus registered users on this site is extremely misleading. At a rough guess 50% of which have never been used (used to falsify member counts by the admin to appease advertisers LOL? ), and a further 30% are probably alter aliases belonging to the same people. That still leaves 10,000odd real users which is plausible over the site's 8/9 year life. Essentially, usage statistics previously recorded at peak times this site have shown 600 different users online at any one point 200 to 300 of which were guest users (not logged in). Averaging about 400 different on-line users a day half of which are guests, a far cry from the 67,000 odd users LOL. At this present point in time, I speculate that peak users are about 500 peak, and averaging 300 active users during the day, again half of which are guest users that leaves and average of 150 users online throughout the day. Obviously there is an even lesser amount that actively post on the forums. This concludes that these forums may not be as largely populated as one may initially think.
I would also speculate on if there has been any re-shuffles in the admin of this site, and question to whom are the persons now in control of the webmaster handle, as their attitudes differ from what was displayed over previous years. Certainly the general attitude displayed of present is more discourteous and condescending than of previous.

I used to enjoy reading the variety of things in here (NSR) and it was such an active section...now it hardly moves.
Lets hope it is just a dip and things will pick up soon.

Scoobynet these days rather reminds me of things like Napster- had it's teeth pulled and all that's left is some pale imitation of itself for mugs.............

It's essentially a non-Impreza forum now, apart from for the younger members who haven't heard all the answers a thousand times before. So you just get the same people who are interested in debating, and therefore after a while you sort of know the type of responses you're likely to get for any given topic. I imagine it'll bump along at this sort of level until/unless it's sold, at which point i wouldn't be surprised to see a more rapid fall into decline.

I've been on a member of the site for just over 9 months.
I've enjoyed Snet to date - excellent for technical (modding) info and good fun for the banter/comment on current affairs. Has been quieter in past few months though.

I put it down to a tiny minority of (well, one really) islamic fruitloops who monopolise every thread and ruin any attempts at discussion other members may wish to have with their divisive and bullying attitudes.
To be honest I have better things to do than subject myself to the daily rantings of religious nut cases and I suspect I may not be the only one.
